      In 1991 media entrepreneur Joseph E.
      Gibbs of Birmingham, AL, had a hunch
      that enough interest existed among the
    public to support a 24-hour cable golf
      channel. After a Gallup Survey confirmed
      strong demand for a golf channel, Gibbs
      and golf legend Arnold Palmer co-founded
      The Golf Channel.

	The National Golf Coaches Association (NGCA) was formed in 1983 as an organization to promote participation in women’s collegiate golf. 	The Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA) is the professional association of men’s golf coaches. Established in 1958, this non-profit organization is dedicated to educating, promoting and recognizing its members who participate in men’s golf at all levels. Through its established events and programs, the GCAA maintains a goal of increasing awareness and the status of men’s golf.
